How to Find Golf Partners (Even If You Don't Know Anyone)
By MyFoursome · Published · Last updated · 6 min read
One of the hardest parts of getting into golf isn't the swing — it's finding people to play with. Foursomes book up months ahead, friends have different schedules, and walking up alone can feel intimidating.
The good news: there are more ways than ever to find playing partners near you. Here are six that actually work, roughly in order of how quickly they get you on the course.
General guidance, not a guarantee of results. Course policies and competition rules vary. Joining or hosting a MyFoursome game does not itself reserve a tee time.
1. Join an open foursome online
Look for a posted game with an open spot. Listings are supplied by hosts, so confirm the tee-time reservation and course access before joining.
On MyFoursome you can browse posted games and filter by date and course. Available games depend on what hosts post; a listing is not proof of a confirmed reservation.
2. Get paired by the course
Most courses will happily pair a single or a twosome with other groups to fill a tee sheet. Call the pro shop the day before, tell them you're flexible, and ask to be paired.
It's the original way to meet new playing partners — you just don't get to choose who you play with, and busy weekend mornings can fill before you get a slot.
3. Join a local league or club
Ask nearby courses about men's, women's, or mixed leagues. Schedules, entry requirements, and mid-season availability vary by organizer.
Ask the pro shop which leagues play out of their course, or check the course's events page.
4. Take a group lesson or clinic
Group clinics put you next to other golfers at a similar level who are also looking to play more. It's a low-pressure way to meet partners and improve at the same time.
5. Use golf communities online
Reddit's r/golf, local Facebook golf groups, and Meetup all have steady streams of 'anyone want to play this weekend?' posts. Search for your city plus 'golf' and you'll usually find an active group.
6. Host your own game
If you can't find an open game that fits, flip it around: book a tee time and let other golfers come to you. Posting your own foursome with open spots is often faster than searching, because you set the course, date, and time.
