How to Book a Tee Time at a Golf Course

By MyFoursome · Published · 5 min read

If you've never booked a tee time before, the process can feel more complicated than it is. Most courses make it easy — and there are more options than ever to find and reserve a spot.

General guidance, not a guarantee of results. Course policies and competition rules vary. Joining or hosting a MyFoursome game does not itself reserve a tee time.

How far in advance to book

Popular public courses open their tee sheet 7–14 days in advance and weekend mornings fill quickly. For a peak Saturday tee time, book as soon as the window opens. Midweek and twilight slots are usually available with much less lead time.

How to book online

Most courses now take bookings through their own website or through booking apps like GolfNow, TeeOff, or Golf Canada's booking system. Search the course name, pick a date and time, choose the number of players, and pay (or just hold the time).

How to book by phone

Call the pro shop and tell them the date, time preference, and number of players. They'll confirm what's available and may take a credit card to hold the booking. Be ready to give your name and phone number.

Walking up same-day

Many courses hold a portion of their tee sheet for same-day walk-ups. Show up at the pro shop, ask if there's availability, and you'll often get out — especially on weekdays or after noon on weekends.

What to do when you arrive

Check in at the pro shop 15–20 minutes before your tee time. Pay your green fee (if not paid online), let them know how many are in your group, and ask about any local rules. Then head to the practice green or driving range.

Joining an existing foursome

If you don't have a full group, you don't need to book your own tee time. You can join an open foursome where another golfer has already booked and has spots available — no phone call required.

Join a tee time that's already booked

Browse open foursomes near you — the tee time is set, the course is chosen, you just claim a spot.
